Thanks to a generous grant from the John Russell Applegate Fund for Teachers at Mid-Nebraska Community Foundation, based in North Platte, NE, Arthur County Schools is excited to announce the addition of a high-quality leather sewing machine to our art program. This new equipment has opened up exciting opportunities for students, allowing them to explore the timeless craft of leather working while gaining practical skills highly valued in our rural ranching community.
Students have quickly embraced the opportunity to learn leather working techniques, creating a variety of projects, from decorative items to functional pieces, such as tack repairs. This initiative has not only expanded our art curriculum but has also strengthened connections to our community’s ranching heritage. The skills our students are developing have both artistic and practical applications, making this project a meaningful and lasting addition to our school.
We are proud of our students’ achievements and grateful for the support that has made this project possible. Stay tuned for future showcases of the incredible work our students are creating!
